The TransQuip Story
1973 – Built on Mechanical Foundations
Motorwell Services was established in North Canterbury, servicing cars, trucks and farm machinery — building the mechanical knowledge and industry relationships that underpin TransQuip today.
1994 – TransQuip is Born
The Townshend family launched TransQuip, beginning with truck and machinery mirrors and quickly expanding into associated commercial vehicle products.
2002 – Full Focus on Commercial Vehicle Equipment
Motorwell Services was sold to concentrate entirely on growing TransQuip. The move marked the shift from workshop business to specialist parts supplier.
2007 – Expansion into the North Island
TransQuip expanded into Auckland, beginning its evolution into a national supplier serving customers across New Zealand.
2013 – Christchurch HQ Investment
Purchase of the Hornby property strengthened stock capacity and logistics capability — improving dispatch speed nationwide.
2016–2019 – Auckland Branch Growth
Auckland operations expanded into a larger warehouse as demand increased. Systems were upgraded and national stockholding grew significantly.
2020 – Proven Under Pressure
During COVID lockdowns, the TransQuip webstore enabled customers to continue ordering essential products, reinforcing our reliability in challenging times.
2022 – In-House Manufacturing Capability
TransQuip brought custom mudflap printing in-house, adding manufacturing capability and strengthening partnerships with leading transport brands.
Today – National Commercial Vehicle Equipment Specialist
With Christchurch HQ, Auckland branch and nationwide freight capability, TransQuip supports commercial fleets and workshops across New Zealand.
